Originally built as the Windmill Dinner Theater, this historic building once welcomed guests to enjoy evening meals while watching live performances by local actors and actresses. During the 1960s, the venue even hosted legendary entertainers such as Wayne Newton, Charley Pride, and Willie Nelson.
By the time we discovered the property, the original dinner theater had long since disappeared—but the building remained, proudly standing with its distinctive mansard roof (also known as a French or curb roof). Wanting to honor that architectural heritage, we searched for a name that reflected its character.
Because mansard roofs are often found on chateaus—grand French country homes or estates inspired by classic French castles — “Chateau” felt like a natural choice. And paired with our location on Forest Park Boulevard, the name “Chateau at Forest Park” came together naturally.
